3 Free Summer Events in Orange County
Resort stays, amusement park visits, out-of-state road trips – the costs of these and other common summer activities can really ramp up. It’s not uncommon for vacationers to drop hundreds, even thousands of dollars on gas, lodging, admission, etc. Not all of us have the luxury of spending that much dough on a trip. In fact, due to the poor economic climate, there are many people with nothing in their wallets but cobwebs and depleted credit cards. However, having no scratch doesn’t mean you have to waste away the best days of summer indoors twiddling your thumbs. Go outside and check out these free events in Orange County with friends, family, and fellow members in the broke-as-a-joke club.
Santa Ana Art Walk
On the first Saturday of every month, downtown Santa Ana hosts an art walk on the 2nd Street Promenade from Broadway Avenue to Spurgeon Street from 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Check out edgy artwork from southern California’s rising artists while immersed in the city’s cool, chic urban setting. Admission is free!
Saturday Fun Roll
Bring your rollerblades to the amphitheater just north of the Huntington Beach Pier at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and embark on a group skate session of approximately 16 miles round trip. Skate at your own pace and enjoy the scenic beachside route. Just don’t forget to bring your protective gear, especially your helmet. Afterwards, grab lunch with your fellow skaters, make some new friends, and spend the rest of your day hanging out in downtown Huntington Beach. Who needs to go to the Caribbean Islands when you’ve got beautiful beaches, perfect weather, and great people right in your own neighborhood?
Parking tip: Forego the 9 dollar parking lot next to the pier and find a space on any street from 6th to 17th at no cost to you.
